Violations of labelling obligations may be sanctioned by the competent authorities with fines. In addition, if the labelling is incorrect, competition law warnings by competitors threaten. 1.2 General Purpose The LMIV has been introduced among other things, mandatory information on declaration of sewing value, instructions for use and information on the country of origin in goods from abroad. This information must be attached to all pre-packed food, even if it is intended for further processing (for defining "pre-packed food", see Art. 2 paragraph 2 letters. e LMIV). Before the LMIV came into force, this information only had to be declared on packaging specific to the end user. The labelling obligations of the LMIV are essentially also mandatory for non-pre-packed food (so-called "loose goods), whereby certain exceptions apply here. This means that these goods do not require the requirement for nutritional labelling. For information about food is the first priority of the food business owner whose name or company the food is marketed, or - if it is not established in the EU - the importer. According to item 8 paragraph 3 LMIV, however, food entrepreneurs in other stages of distribution are second priority, as they are not allowed to bring food that does not meet the requirements of LMIV into circulation. The information on food requirements according to the LMIV must be attached to food packaging or on a label attached to it. Furthermore, the mandatory information must be provided in an "easy-to-understand language" for the consumers of the respective member state where a food is marketed. In Germany, the labelling must be carried out in German (comparison 2 LMIDV). For products with a foreign declaration, this means that they have an additional label in the form of a sticker
