Product Description

A hearty mix of ancient grains bursting with fruit, seeds and nuts. To give you an experience of the grains our ancestors ate, we blended spelt, amaranth, rye and oats with a mix of apple, apricot, dates, cashews and seeds. Delicious! Amaranth was cultivated by the Aztecs and banned by the invading Conquistadors. One seed head can weigh 1kg containing millions of seeds, which are a source of protein an are rich in minerals. Rye and oats are mentioned in scriptures as ancient crops and were a major part of the European diet in medieval times. Spelt was cultivated widely in Egyptian times. The Romans fed it to their armies and the Greeks accepted it as a gift from the Goddess Demeter. Lastly, spelt has more protein and better nutritional benefits compared with modern wheat. Since starting in 1975, Alara has had a passion for both health and sustainability. Back in 1975 we created the first recipe in the UK for muesli without added sugar. In 1988 Alara was the first cereal company in the world to be certified Organic and in 2008 became the first Zero Waste food factory, with nothing going to landfill or incineration. In 2018 we are proud to announce that we are the very first cereal company to use home compostable film to replace plastic. Directions

Serve with a milk of your choice or juice. Alternatively, our muesli tastes delicious soaked a few minutes (or overnight in the fridge) and served with yogurt.
