Dolomite is a sedimentary carbonate rock, naturally composed of calcium magnesium carbonate. Dolomite provides a good natural source of calcium and Magnesium.
Calcium is the most abundant essential mineral in the body, with 99% of it contained in the bones and teeth. Calcium is essential for the formation of bones and teeth and is also required for blood clotting, muscle contraction and the transmission of signals in nerve cells.
Magnesium is also an essential mineral, but not needed in quite the same quantities as Calcium, and many experts recommend a ratio of about 3:2 of Calcium to Magnesium for maximum health benefits. Many other minerals like Sodium, Potassium and Phosphorous are dependent on the presence of Magnesium to promote effective absorption. Vitamins are also better utilised when Magnesium is present. This leads to Magnesium being essential for bone health, protein formation, relaxing muscles, blood clotting and the production of insulin.
