Lutein is a powerful antioxidant from the carotenoid family and is very prevalent in the central area of the retina, called the macular. As our eyes are very susceptible to free radical damage, Lutein's main role as an antioxidant is to help maintain the health of the eyes.
Zeaxanthin is another antioxidant which works hand in hand with Lutein in the protection of the eyes.
Bilberry Extract has been used for many years to maintain eye health. Rich in the flavonoid 'anthocyanoside', which is believed to be the active constituent of bilberries, that maintains a healthy blood flow and therefore delivers oxygen to the eyes.
Lycopene is a red carotenoid found mainly in tomatoes, which exhibits exceptional antioxidant properties. Lycopene has been shown to protect the skin from photo-ageing as well as, in many studies, protect the health of the prostate gland. As an antioxidant it helps 'mop up' cell damaging free radicals, which have a major impact on ageing, eye health and prostate health.
Optim-Eyes combines all four of these high powered antioxidants and flavonoids together with other important key antioxidants like Zinc, Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin E, as well as Selenium and B vitamins, to give an outstanding Eye Health product to help protect the eyes from daily irritants, especially as we age.
